So, if you are frustrated with pre-matured grey hair and looking for some natural solution, then you are at the right place because we will discuss the probable cause of grey hair & its natural solution.

So, stick with the article for a better understanding.

Let’s talk about the most probable reasons for grey hair.

What causes grey hair?

Each hair follicle comprises melanocyte cells that produce two pigment types, pheomelanin and eumelanin. Eumelanin is present in brown and black-coloured hair, whereas pheomelanin is found in red or blond hair. The pigment of hair degrades more gradually than our skin pigment melanin. This pigment helps us to maintain hair colours as it grows gradually.

Grey hair develops when the number of melanocytes reduces. But the rate of decrease varies from man to man.

Here is some cause of hair greying besides ageing:

Genetic mutation: Specific gene is responsible for greying hair. One research study found that a particular gene is responsible for producing, controlling, and restoring melanin. They also reviewed that it is a genetic condition, and patients with allergic diseases such as Asthma or Eczema are prone to developing white hair.

Obesity: overweight patients are more like to develop grey hair.

Smoking: Smoking is one of the predominant reasons for grey hair. Smokers are more likely to develop premature hair than a non-smoker. However, the mechanism is not known. However, experts say that smoking increases oxidative stress and thereby damages melanin.

Stress: Stress speed up the greying process. Stress depletes the production of stem cells in hair follicles which could be transformed into pigment when hair forms. Stress, anxiety, & mental pressure has a profound impact on our mental health along with our physical appearance.

Vitamins: Vitamin D and B12 deficiency may lead to premature grey hair, which supplements can reverse. Apart from that dairy products, protein-enriched food is also a good source of vitamin B12. That’s why vegetarians are more likely to develop premature hair greying issues. Even it has also been seen that older people can’t absorb vitamin B12 through digestion and have grey hair.

Diseases such as Vitiligo & alopecia areata lead to premature hair greying. When the melanin cell stops producing pigment or die, they develop Vitiligo, which stops producing hair colour. In alopecia areata, generally, patients notice a sudden loss of colour in hair which may lead to noticeable grey hair.
